SPEED LIMITS IN SWITZERLAND

General speed limits in Switzerland:

-Residential areas: 30 km/h (18 mph)
-Towns and cities: 50 km/h or 60 km/h (31 mph or 37 mph)
-Country roads: 80 km/h (50 mph)
-Dual carriageways/expressways: 100 km/h (6 2mph)
-Motorways: 120 km/h (75 mph)

There are speed cameras in police cars and fixed cameras. Fines are graded according to how much over the limit you are in a certain area, for example, 1–5 km/h over the limit in a built-up area is a CHF 40 fine while on a motorway it would be about CHF 20. Driving more than 25km/h over the speed limit in any area will result in a summons and more than 35km/h over the limit you could face a minimum of three months disqualification and a fine.
